Real Integration reel quick at Clydeport.

WMS vendor Clandestine Software announced that a new business integration project with new client Clydeport was delivered three months ahead of schedule.

Due for 1, April this year the requirement was for a system that would fully participate in the papiNet messaging network used widely in the industry and more particularly by Clydeport’s customer Norske Skog, international paper producer based primarily in Norway.

The solution was based on the use of LocateIT with standard barcode processes augmented by a specialist application to import and export messages in XML format in accordance with papiNet templates.

After developing the specifications the timeline was shortened from April to early January presenting a considerable challenge to the Clandestine technical and consulting team. By pulling out all the stops internally they successfully delivered a fully functional system which worked from day one – day one being the new date of January 2!

By the time of the official opening of the Norske Skog terminal in May, the system had effectively handled 48,097 reels of paper ranging from half a tonne to 2 and a quarter tonnes each.

During the official opening and ribbon cutting, the Senior VP of Norske Skog , Ketil Lyng remarked to Tom Allison, Chief Executive of Peel Ports, Clydeport’s parent company, that the operation had the lowest error rate of any of their partner warehouses world wide. The work of the Clandestine project team was warmly referred to as being a key element of the successful result.

Clydeport is just one of a raft of integration projects handled by Clandestine in the last year. Other clients with similar requirements have included Southern Storage, Tay Group, Frampton’s Transport and Peppers Warehousing.

Clandestine Software were formed in 1989 and have more than 200 clients including Mitsubishi Air Conditioners Europe, D J M Logistics, Clydeport Operations, John G Russell Group and C S Ellis Group.
